Subject : Deductions from Salary

A Dhuine Uasail,

I am directed by the Minister for Finance to say that discussions have taken place at the General Council on a Staff Side proposal for a scheme of deductions from pay of contributions to a Civil Service Charities Fund.

It has been agreed to establish, under the auspices of the Civil Service Unions, a single Charities Fund which will be used to support selected charitable projects. Voluntary contributions will be deducted from pay at the rate of €1 for every €1000 of basic pay.

Forms of authorisation for the deduction will be circulated to all civil servants and information regarding the Fund is obtainable from the Secretary, Committee of Management, Civil Service Charities Fund, 30 Merrion Square, Dublin 2.
